Thomas Allyn Comstock, 85, Red Wing, died at home Thursday. He was born May 16, 1921, in Red Wing, the son of John Oliver and Myrtle (Fanslow) Comstock. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1937 and attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. He operated Comstock Garden Greenhouse until 1980 and then worked for the USDA. He married Margaret Mahoney on April 26, 1943. He was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, a past school board member, a past Chairman of the United Way Fund, a member of Red Wing Kiwanis, and board member of the Hedin-Hartnagel Education Fund. He enjoyed making furniture, hunting, fishing and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three daughters: Carolyn (Lyle) Wichman of Los Alamos, NM, Susan Comstock of Milwaukee, Wis. and Colleen (Douglas) Hill of Gypsum, Colorado; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Faythe Hawkinson of Red Wing and Wanda Grande of Seattle, Washington; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Memorial service will be 11 a. m. Tuesday at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church with Reverends Kristen Schlauderaff and Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p. m. Monday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to donor?s choice.
