Theresa "Jan" Fraser-Kosec

Theresa "Jan" Jeanette Fraser-Kosec, 85, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Deer Crest. She was born on September 24, 1929 in Red Wing to Eldon and Ellen (Ryan) LaVan. Jan graduated from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault and attended Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. For three years she worked in Ghana Africa as a medical technologist. On September 21, 1965 she married James Fraser. Jan continued to work as a medical technologist at St. John's Hospital in Red Wing and finished her career as a Labatory/X-Ray Supervisor at the Lake City Hospital. She and James also managed the theatres in Red Wing and operated Fraser Bus Tours. James died May 9, 1988. On July 6, 1996 she married Walter "Buzz" Kosec. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Business and Professional Women, being awarded Woman of the Year, a girl scout leader along with being a special mom, wife and friend. Jan will be remembered for her feisty spirit and great sense of humor. Jan was an amazing woman who gave her best to everyone. She was well known as the "bar" lady at church for many years. She also enjoyed her wildflowers.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Walter; one daughter, Sue Ellen (Andrew) Weyer; one son Mike (Lori) Fraser; two grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Fraser; one brother, Kenneth LaVan and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband and one sister, Mary (Kateri) LaVan.

Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
