Theodore "Ted" A. Trinka

Theodore Anton (Ted) Trinka age 86 of Zumbrota, MN passed away peacefully early Sunday morning April 28, 2019 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, MN.
Ted was born in Dickenson, ND on August 30, 1932 to Fanny Bray and Anton Trinka. He grew up in rural Dunn county where he attended Longfellow rural school. He graduated from Dunn Center High School in 1950. After graduation, he attended Dickinson State University the summer term of 1950 and taught rural school for two years. In 1952, he entered into active duty service with the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Beverly Remsing in California in 1953. After he was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer Second Class in June of 1956, they went back to Dickinson State University so Ted could complete his B.S. Degree in Education. In 1961, they moved to Minot where Ted taught Junior High School and Basic Adult Education for 29 years. He also earned his Master of Education degree during his tenure in Minot.
Ted was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the American Legion, the Elks Club, the National Education Association, the N.D. Education Association and the Minot PTA. Ted was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Minot for many years where he served on the church council, as an usher and in many other church related activities. Ted enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, caring for animals and his many friends during his retirement in Minot and at his summer home in Pick City, ND. He was a willing helper and a good neighbor.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Della Gilbert; and brother, Robert Trinka. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly, Zumbrota, MN; two nieces, Mary (Richard) Nester, Minot, and Geraldine (Pat) Dinkins, Bison, SD; two brothers-in-law Darrell (Joanne) Remsing; Mission, TX and Donovan Remsing, Zumbrota, MN; and sister-in law Lorraine Remsing, Thermopolis, WY.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the American Legion, Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, ND, or to the donor's choice of charitable organizations. A memorial service at Christ Lutheran Church in Minot, with inurnment in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND are planned for later in the year. Arrangements were provided by Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, MN.
