Theodore Lysaker, 86, of Red Wing, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 from complications of a recent illness at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born December 27, 1923 in Fargo, North Dakota to Fredrick and Anna (Overdahl) Lysaker. He attended high school in Fargo. Theodore moved out west and worked in a dental lab before joining the U.S. Army, serving as a medic during World War II. After the service he returned to Fargo where he met Ardis Lundmark. They were married June 30, 1949 in Bemidji and have since celebrated 61 years of marriage. They lived in Fargo until 1962 when they moved to Red Wing. Theodore purchased Red Wing Dental Lab, which he owned and operated until his son took over the business. He continued to work part time until he was 72. After retiring, he and Ardis spent time at their cottage on Granite Lake in Cumberland, Wisconsin. He enjoyed traveling, having visited Alaska, Norway, Sweden, Finland, St. Petersburg, and England. He loved the lake and spending time with his family there. Theodore was a member of the Hancock Lodge 229 Masonic Temple and the Shriner's in Ellsworth. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54, United Lutheran Church, and was a past member of the Lions.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ardis; daughter, Karin (Jack) Palumbo of Spring Valley, Wisconsin; son, Glenn Lysaker of Goodhue; two grandchildren, Michael and Angela Palumbo; brother, Gilbert Lysaker of Boyton Beach, Florida, niece, Susan, of Spokane, Washington; and nephew Christopher Lysaker of Tampa, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Steve Timm officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2025 E River Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN, 55414, United Lutheran Church, or the donor's choice
