Theodore Raymond Arndt

September 8, 1939 — July 31, 2016

Theodore (Ted) Raymond Arndt passed away at his home surrounded by family on July 31st, 2016. He was born in Red Wing on September 8th, 1939 to Ray and Christine (Poncelet) Arndt of Belle Creek and was the oldest of their 11 children. His brothers and sisters are Wayne (Judy), Tom (Linda), Mary Fairchild, Teresa Spencer, Patricia (Bob) Herder, Kathy (Tom) Driscol, Virginia (Mike) Haase, Ray, Steve (Cindy), and Margie (Peggy) Arndt. As a child, Ted worked for various area farmers, and lived with Harold and Edna Ward of Belle Creek. During his year of living with the Ward's they formed a strong bond that they carried through the rest of their lives. Ted is a 1958 graduate of Goodhue High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. While there, he was set-up on a blind date and met Nancylu Hoffmann of Wyckoff, NJ, the love of his life, who eventually became his devoted wife of 52 years. Ted and Nancy have 4 children Heidi (Maurice) Kolby, Heather Arndt, Eric Arndt, and Tim (Jenny) Arndt. Ted also has 8 grandchildren Nicholas and Nathan Dahlgren (Heidi), Joy Stock and Rayna Arndt (Eric), and Wyatt, Owen, Griffin, and Rafe Arndt (Tim), and multiple step-grandchildren he held dear. Ted is a member of Minneola Lutheran Church.

Ted worked over 30 years as a welder and sand blaster at Meyer Industries of Hager City, WI, where he made many good friends. In September of 2002, Ted suffered a serious stroke (aneurism) which dramatically changed the course of his life. Not one to let a bad situation get the worst of him, he worked hard on his recovery and enjoyed nearly 15 more years on his farm and with his family. During that time he restored a 1951 Minneapolis Moline U, took a cross country trip, and saw the birth of 5 more grandchildren. Some of Ted's passions that passed on to his children include a love of farming, working with engines, and restoring both model and antique Minneapolis Moline tractors. With a mind full of mechanical knowledge, there was no ‘problem' he couldn't find a mechanical solution to. In his youth, Ted enjoyed getting into trouble; usually a car was involved, with his brothers and buddies. In recent years he enjoyed going to breakfast with his high school friends, visiting with neighbors, and talking tractors.

Ted was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne, and his sister-in-law Linda (Tom) Arndt.
