Terry Charles Flynn

October 14, 1932 — December 2, 2017

Our favorite Irishman has danced his last jig, taken his last boat ride, caught his last walleye, and walked his last 10,000 steps. Terrell "Terry" C. Flynn, 85, of Red Wing, was called home to his beloved wife, who he lost 42 years before him on Saturday, December 02, 2017, at St. Crispin Living Community- Seminary Home.

Terry was born in Red Wing on October 14, 1932, to Ralph and Luella (Henn) Flynn. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1950, and enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and softball in his youth. After graduation, Terry enlisted and proudly served four years in the United States Navy. He was esteemed to fulfill a tour of duty aboard the U.S.S Worchester and was honorably discharged on November 22, 1955. Less than a month later on December 16th, Terry was united in marriage to Lorraine Anderson at Cross of Christ Church in Welch. Lorraine preceded him in death on November 15, 1975.

Terry enjoyed many hobbies including hunting for pheasants and ducks, dancing and baseball- playing for the Red Wing Aces, Scarlets, and on many softball teams. Terry found the greatest enjoyment in fishing and being a "River Rat" out in the boat on the river. Terry owned and operated roller skating rinks in Elmwood, Hastings and Red Wing. He was also employed 42 years with Riedell Shoes where he worked as a skate maker until his retirement in 1997. Terry was a proud member of the Redmen Club, the American Legion Leo C. Peterson Post #54, and First Lutheran Church in Red Wing.

Terry is survived by his son, Patrick Flynn of Wisconsin; daughters, Kellee (Steve) Ames of Rochester, Koleen (Brian) Johnson of Welch, and Kathleen (Loren) Flynn-Benson of Red Wing; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, and Logan Johnson, Jason, Avyella, Christian, Hayden, Isabella, Charles and Kahlia Benson; and a very special friend, Darnell Smith of Red Wing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Luella and his wife, Lorraine.

A private graveside service and interment with military honors by Post #54 will be in Oakwood Cemetery with Reverend Arthur Sharot officiating.

A celebration of Terry's Life will be held on his favorite day of the year, St. Patrick's Day, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the American Legion Leo C. Peterson Post #54, where family and friends are welcome to come and share stories and memories of Terry.
