Teresa Marie Childs

Teresa Marie Childs, Mahpiya Nagi Win, (Sky Spirit Woman), 23, of Hastings, died Saturday, December 14, 2019 as the result of an accident while traveling in Amsterdam. She was born February, 9, 1996 in Fond du Lac, Minnesota. She grew up in Red Wing and Hastings and graduated from Hasting High School. She played basketball and sang in the show choir. Teresa was a member of the Prairie Island Indian Community and she enjoyed learning the skills of her culture. She was skilled in beading, sewing and traditional baking and participated in ceremonies. She was proud to represent her community and held the titles of Prairie Island Veterans Princess and Miss Prairie Island for six years. She was also a champion jingle dress dancer. She enjoyed fashion, music, experimenting with her hair color and she loved Harry Potter. She loved animals, especially her cat, Sirius. She enjoyed traveling and had many friends at home and abroad.
She will be missed by many including, her father; Alan (Candice) Childs, Jr. of Hastings; mother, Adonya Pacheco of Minneapolis; siblings, Evon Childs, Alonna Childs, Ramiro Pacheco and Stormi Hayes; grandparents; Alan, Sr. (Melissa) Childs of Welch; great-grandparents, Vivian and Joe Mireau; uncles, Brian Childs and Christopher Childs; aunt, Brooklynn (David) Hanson; as well as many other aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Rebecca E. Childs and grandmother, Teresa Kingbird.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Prairie Island Community Center. Wake will begin at 3 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2019 and continue until the time of the service.
