Sydney Allison Gawarecki

May 7, 1975 — April 4, 2009

On the morning of April 4, 2009, Sydney Allison Gawarecki passed away as a result of complications with a chronic, incurable medical condition. She was at home and in the presence of her loving husband as she crossed the veil from this life into the next.

Sydney enjoyed many of life's joys. At various times in her life she was involved in gymnastics, Space Camp, starting an aeronautics club, traveling to Scotland, and mountain hiking. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1993 before pursuing a higher education in nursing, which she enjoyed. Her life changed with the challenge of raising her two children Abigail and Avery; whom were the foremost love of her life. She worked and sacrificed to provide them with a safe, loving, and nurturing home.

Her interests included creating and designing greeting cards, which she hand stamped and then water-colored. For recreation, she enjoyed swimming, fishing, playing with her dog, and attending medieval events with friends. Few activities pleased her more than singing to and with her children as well as seeing them enjoy life. On April 5, 2003 she married David "Raph" Gawarecki to whom she was a constant, loving, and caring companion.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents and unborn child Josiah. She is survived by her two lovely children Abigail and Avery, her caring husband David, her supportive parents Dennis and Karen Lee, faithful brother Adam J. Lee, and her mother and father-in-law, Joan and Robert Gawarecki. Along with their four sons, they welcomed Sydney into their family. She loved her extended families with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom had a special place in her heart. Further surviving is her loving, long serving, and constant canine companion Astrid.

As someone who truly lived by a code of caring, she freely gave the last few dollars in her wallet to someone more needy or offering her meager assistance to those less fortunate. In the dark night of a needy person's soul, she was a bright lighthouse calling them to a better place. Please honor her by making a donation, as great or small as you can, to a local charity; so that when it is our turn to depart the shores of this life, the beacon of her love can guide us to calmer and more peaceful shores.

The family invites you to a memorial service for Sydney at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Rochester on Wednesday April 8th at 6:00 PM. A visitation with no reviewal will be held Wednesday at 4:00 PM until the time of the service at the church. A reception will follow the memorial service in the fellowship hall.
