Susan Lucile McRoberts

Susan Lucile McRoberts, 67, of Rochester, MN, died Saturday (July 28, 2012) from cancer; she was surrounded by her loving family at Season's Hospice House in Rochester.
Susan was born May 11, 1945 in Oshkosh, WI, to Willard and Margaret (Crowner) Sell. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1963 and went on to receive her B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in January 1968. She began working for IBM, of Rochester, where she met Raymond Spencer McRoberts and were married on December 5, 1970.
After 25 years, Susan retired from IBM as a Computer Programmer and followed her passion for gardening. She returned to school at RCTC, then to the University of Minnesota working towards a Master's degree in Horticulture.
She was a very active member of Evangel United Methodist Church since 1981; as well as Shades of Green Hosta Society, Job's Daughters, Elder Hostel, Habitat for Humanity, Le Leche League; and Red Rock Fellowship Family Camp since 1992. Susan enjoyed reading, camping, hiking, sailing, swimming, softball, badminton, canoeing, and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond McRoberts, Rochester, son Michael (Katie), Mazeppa MN; daughter Sarah McRoberts, Rochester; daughter Sonia (Jason) Johnson, Rochester; son David McRoberts, Rochester; sister Nancy (Gayle) Webber, Evanston IL ; brother Russ (Norma) Sell, Newark CA; brother Edward (Lori) Sell, Wayne IL; Sister Sally (Herb) Herzog, Anchorage AK; many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews; and her beloved granddaughter, Hannah McRoberts.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Sell, Margaret Sell; and sister, Sylvia Bacon.
A visitation will be held at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 Broadway, Rochester MN, on Friday August 3, 2012 from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. Lunch will be served following the service at Evangel. Internment Services will be held privately.
Memorials are suggested to Season's Hospice. Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
