Susan Harteneck

Susan Shanon Harteneck, 56, of Zumbrota died suddenly on Saturday, June 11 2016 at her home. She was born on December 20, 1959 in St. Paul. Her parents were Robert and Elaine (Wangen) Serres. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She attended schools in Red Wing and received her nursing degree from SE Technical College in Red Wing. She married Gerald Decker and they later divorced. She worked at the Zumbrota Health Services as a care coordinator for about 10 years where she made a big difference in the lives of the residents at the care center. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being with her family and going to car races with Doug.

Survivors include her fiancée, Doug Hindal of Zumbrota; her mother, Elaine Serres of Red wing; three children, Kristin (Joel Diercks) Decker of Hager City, Matthew (Heather) Decker of Zumbrota and Melissa (Phil Jensen) Decker of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Joshua Decker, Lucas Kells, Carter and Hunter Erickson, Landon Decker and Kaylyn Decker; one brother, Kevin Serres of Red Wing; three sisters, Sharon (Harry) Dell of Morristown, Brenda Nelson of Faribault and Pamela Nicolls of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Doug's children, Bronson and Jarad Hindal and her pets, Jazzi and Macy. She was preceded in death by her father in 2014.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Arte Sharot officiating. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
