SuEllen (Mehrkins) Diercks, 62, of Red Wing, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was born January 21, 1945 in Red Wing to Virgil and La Verne (Hanson) Mehrkins and was a graduate of Red Wing Central High School. She worked at St. John's Hospital and married Burton Diercks in 1964 and they lived in Goodhue. After 25 years of marriage they divorced and she moved back to Red Wing in the early 1990's. She worked for REM/IRC until March of 2007. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, watching movies, flowers and nature. SuEllen was a very caring and loving person and she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Steven Diercks of Goodhue, Wayne Diercks and Marie Diercks both of Minneapolis and Amy (Jeff) Myers of Rochester; five grandchildren, Nicole (Diercks) Vikingson, Stephen Diercks, and David, Kathryn and Mark Myers; one sister, Joan (Doug) Ripley of Ellsworth and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service.
