Steven Veek

Steven Mark Veek, age 23, of Red Wing, died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Lake City Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 20, 1984, in Red Wing, to Corey and Barbara (Dale) Veek. He attended Red Wing Schools and graduated in 2005 through the special education program. He lived at Vasa Children's Home for a number of years and the at a REM residence. He worked for ProAct. He enjoyed the RideAbility (therapeutic horseback riding), swimming and camping particularly at Camp Confidence in Brainerd.
Survivors include his mother, Babs (Brad) Knudson of Red Wing; his father, Corey Veek of Red Wing; two sisters, Stacey Veek of York, Pennsylvania and Danielle Veek of Red Wing; half-brother, Matthew Knudson of Red Wing; step-sisters, Shannon Knudson of Red Wing and Jessica (Justin) Titus of Apple Valley; maternal grandmother, Anne Dale of London, England; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Veek of Red Wing; several aunts and uncles and two nephews. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Norman Dale and paternal grandfather, Warren Veek.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Charles Uhlik officiating. Burial will be Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the RideAbility.
