OBITUARY: Steven Staub
Funeral services for Steven Staub will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at 1PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco with Reverend Paul Baldauf officiating. Gloria Baldauf will provide the music. Active casketbearers will be Darwin Fieck, Robert Staub, Dan Burdick, David Klingsporn, Joe Klingsporn and Roger Markham. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Steve's family, neighbors and friends. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery.
Steven John Staub, age 47, of Mazeppa died on Thursday, May 31, 2007 as the result of a trench cave in farm accident. He was born on December 29, 1959 at Rochester, MN to Marvin and Ruth (Reiland) Staub. He attended school and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1979. Steven farmed in the Mazeppa area with his family and on June 7, 1980 he married Nancy Klingsporn at Oronoco, MN. Following their marriage the couple continued farming. Steven was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a past member of FFA and Poplar Grove Lutheran Church of rural Pine Island. He loved to restore tractors and was known as a "cobbler and tinkerer" as he could fix basically anything. He had a kind and open heart and would help anyone in need. Steven loved his family and was especially looking forward to the arrival of his first grandchild this August. His love for people also showed as he was a tissue and organ donor and will leave his legacy to live on in other people who will benefit from his "gift of life".
Steven is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Mazeppa, MN; two daughters: Jessica (Aaron) Rude, of Zumbrota, MN and Kayla Staub, of Red Wing, MN; one son, Joshua Staub, of Mazeppa, MN; his mother and step-father, Ruth (Harold) VandeWeerd, of Mazeppa, MN; two brothers: Richard (Pam) Staub, and Daniel (Ginger) Staub, all of Mazeppa, MN; one sister, Shirley (Jim) Perrotti, of Mazeppa, MN; his maternal grandmother, Sarah Reiland, of Mazeppa, MN; numerous step-brothers and step-sisters; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Staub, his paternal grandparents, John and Edna Staub, his maternal grandfather, John Reiland, and one niece, Heidi.
Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2007, from 5-9PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.
