Steven Peter Nibbe, 65, of Goodhue, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Zumbrota Health Services.
He was born August 28, 1959 in Red Wing to John and Janice (Roschen) Nibbe. He grew up in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School, class of 1977. Following graduation he went to work on the family farm. Dairy farming was his passion. He could have had his choice of careers but he saw nothing better than being on the farm. He and his brother farmed together for more than 30 years until his health deteriorated.
He was active in the community and served as the Goodhue Township Clerk. He was active with 4H and FFA. Through FFA he received his American Farmer Award. He was a life-long member of St. John's Goodhue.
Steve was a fantastic uncle who loved taking his nieces and nephews to help with chores, igloo building, and the occasional gopher trapping. He also taught them all the Nintendo cheat codes. He loved sports and enjoyed playing softball and, while in high school, basketball and cross country. He particularly enjoyed classic 70s rock. When he could no longer farm, Steve still enjoyed drives to check on the planting and visit with neighbors.
He is survived by his siblings; Daniel Nibbe of Goodhue, Kristin (Greg) Mahoney of Pine Island, Paul (Ann) Nibbe of Zumbrota, and Mark (Stephanie) Nibbe of Ramsey; nieces and nephews, Scott and Ben Mahoney, Chelsea Lubahn, Jessica Koball and Maya Nibbe; as well as many great-nieces and nephews; uncle, Lloyd Roschen of Lake City and Aunt and Godmother, Marilyn Roschen of Lake City.
He is preceded in death by his aunts and uncles; Ralph Roschen, Harlan and Kay Stehr, and Marlene Roschen; and his parents.
The family would like to thank Pine Haven Care Center and Zumbrota Health Services for all of the care and support they provided Steve. Also, a special thanks to Kendra and Annika who Steve looked forward to seeing every day.
