Steven B Gray

January 3, 1940 — June 14, 2017

Steven B. Gray, age 76, of Florence, AZ, formerly of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on Dec. 14, 2016 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Steven was born Jan. 3, 1940 to Arthur and Cecelia (Bethke) Gray in Rochester. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1958. He played hockey as a goalie in grades 10 and 11, and was co-captain in grade 12. He married Avis (Smith) Theros on Nov. 15, 1964 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. He worked for Don's Liquor Store. Then he, Avis, and family moved to Brimson, MN where they owned and operated a Country Store for 10 years. Steve also drove Semi's for Berger Transfer, then managed a Motel in LeSuer, MN and ended up working for Public Housing in St. Paul, MN. Following that, he retired and moved to Wabasha, MN before moving to Florence. Steve was an avid Walleye fisherman. He came back every summer to Wabasha and camped at Bailey's Camp Ground and fished every day.

Survivors include his wife Avis of Florence; children Karla Gray of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Mark (Jane) Theros of Racine, MN; Tony Theros of Two Harbors, MN; and Dawn Theros of Duluth, MN; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and his brother Dale Gray of Pine Island, MN. His parents and his brother Ralph preceded him in death.
