Steve Anderson, 56, of Red Wing, a beloved husband and father, died on Monday, August 3, 2020, at St Marys Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 11, 1963, in St. Paul to Earl and Joann (Peterson) Anderson. He graduated from St. Bernard's High School in St. Paul. Steve continued his education and received a Bachelor's of Arts in Speech Communication and Journalism from the University of River Falls and a Masters of Arts in Teacher Education Program at the University of St. Thomas. He was employed as a project coordinator for Thompson West from October 2000 until January 2011 and then was a program administrative supervisor for the Dakota County Sheriff's Department from April 2001 up until his death. On December 16, 1989, he was united in marriage to the love of his, life Leanne Atzmiller. They lived in St. Paul, before moving to Red Wing in September of 1993. He was a faithful and active member of United Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, was a Boy Scout leader and served on the Red Wing School board for 8 years. Steve loved playing cards, spending time with his family and watching Minnesota sports even through the years of disappointment he was determined that this will be "the year". He always had fun playing fantasy football with his closet friends and youngest son. Steve enjoyed all of Leanne's cooking, especially chicken parmesan, fresh baked bread, chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls alongside his beloved diet mountain dew.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Leanne; two sons, Quentin Anderson and Zach Anderson; two brothers, Dan (Janine) Anderson and Kyle Anderson; two sisters, Karen (James) Foreman and Linda (Kit) Lee; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews along with other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; niece, Brianna Anderson; brother-in-law, Lloyd Minaai and his father-in-law, Leonard Atzmiller.
