Stephen Paul Lindell

Stephen Paul Lindell, 66, of Red Wing died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 7, 1945 in Minneapolis to Paul and Margaret (Sovik) Lindell. He graduated from Roosevelt High Scholl in 1963 and then attended the University of Minnesota for one year. He then served in the US Army for five years during the Vietnam War. During that time he trained for missile maintenance and then as a Army pilot, flying fixed wing planes. On June 15, 1974 he married Linda Hoyt. Stephen worked in security in the Twin Cities, the Red Wing Police Department for 20 years, Treasure Island as a vault supervisor, RAM in Red Wing and then for Central Research Laboratories. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Leo C. Peterson Post #54, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, hunting, fishing, and camping. Stephen was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and enjoyed a variety of music from country to classical. He was loyal to his country, work and his faith.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda; sons, Dennis (Cecile) Lindell of Reston, Virg. and Patrick (Malissa) Lindell of Bertha, Minn; eight grandchildren; mother, Margaret Lindell of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mary (Leigh) Marquardt of Somerset, Wis., Louise (Thom) Orest of Lilydale, Minn. and Beth (Karl) Johansson of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his father Paul.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Red Wing Fairview Hospice, or World Mission Prayer League, 232 Clifton Avenue; Minneapolis, MN 55403.
