Stanley Paul Gordon

Stanley Paul Gordon, age 66, of Red Wing, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at his home, after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was born January 8, 1951, to Donald and Darlene (Wankel) Gordon in LaMoure, ND. His family moved to Red Wing in 1960 and he graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1969. He attended and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, where he met his future wife, Ann Haggart. They were married on June 28, 1975 at Gethsemane Cathedral in Fargo, ND. Stan began his 34-year teaching career in Red Wing in 1973 and spent nearly 30 of those years in the same classroom at Hancock School, until the school closed. He worked for several more years within the district until retiring in 2007.
The simple things in life meant the most to Stan, including pheasant hunting in North and South Dakota, fishing, being on the river and anything outdoors. He especially cherished when his sons would come home to visit and when he could be with his grandchildren. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Pheasants Forever, the Y's Men's Club, and several local singing groups.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann of Red Wing; three sons, Mac (Nicki) of Excelsior, Paul (Mariana Tarragó) of Minneapolis, and Sam (Alyssa Wood) of Golden Valley; two grandchildren, Foster and Vivian; sister, Donene Gordon of Red Wing; brother, Tim (Gail) Gordon of Plymouth; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 21, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to Pheasants Forever or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences can be sent at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
