Sophia Carolina Larkey

Sophia Carolina Larkey, 100, of Red Wing, died on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Loving Residence. She was born on February 21, 1916 to Adolph and Emma (Holst) Vogt in Wells Creek. She attended school in Wells Creek and Red Wing Central High School. She later moved to California where she married Floyd Larkey on October 17, 1946 in Pomona, California. They moved to Rock Island, Illinois where she started working for McCabe's Department Store as a retail buyer until retiring in 1970. Floyd died in 1989. She moved to Bay City in 1992. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 326 of Sterling, Illinois and throughout her life she enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by one nephew, Steve (Connie) Vogt of Bay City; two nieces, Rita (Harvey) Lehman of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Verna (Jim) Fair of Fort Meyers, Fla., along with numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Herbert and Robert.
