Socorro Budensiek

Socorro Budensiek (Pacheco), 94, of Zumbrota, died Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Goodhue Assisted Living in Goodhue.

She was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on March 23, 1930 to Balbina Valdez Pacheco. She grew up and attended school there before moving to Texas in her early 20s. There she met William "Bill" Budensiek while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. On November 30, 1955 the couple was married in Mexico. They later renewed their vows at The Little Brown Church in Iowa. Together they made their home in Zumbrota and raised 3 children.

Socorro worked on the family farm and in factories in the Zumbrota Area. Most recently, she worked for MidAmerica Dairy. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She supported her children and attended all of her grandchildren's events. She was a hard worker who was a little bit stubborn. She knew her own mind and enjoyed cracking jokes. She was a fantastic cook. She and Bill enjoyed traveling to Mexico to visit family. Socorro enjoyed road trips and when the children were younger, they drove out West to camp in national parks. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the Casino.

She will be missed by many, including her husband, Bill Budensiek of Goodhue; son, Art (Deb) Pacheco of Lake City, Florida; daughter, Cristal LaCanne of Zumbrota; 6 grandchildren, Jorge (Kate) Bremer, Christina Pacheco, Ryan (Maranda) Pacheco, Shania (Dillon) Prough, Kenzie (Judd) O'Connor, Mariah (Cole) Lingbeck; 5 great grandchildren, Jack, Logan, Mckinley, William, and Maverick; and sister-in-law, Vivian Budensiek.

She is preceded in death by her son, Albert; a brother and a sister; and her parents.

The family would like to thank Leslie, Goodhue Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their assistance in the excellent care Socorro received.

A Celebration of Life will be 1-4 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the VFW, post 5727 in Zumbrota. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel.
