Sigurd Ree

Sigurd Godfrey Ree, 86, of Wanamingo, passed away on December 11, 2021 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.

He was born on August 31, 1935 to Selmer and Selma (Froyum) Ree. He graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1953 and was baptized and confirmed at Lands Lutheran Church. After high school he joined the local national guard for 9 years. Irene and Sigurd dated in high school and were married on August 13, 1960 and raised four children on the family farm in Wanamingo. Sigurd was a dairy farmer who also drove school bus for 56 years

Sigurd enjoyed spending time with his family, following high school and college sports and watching his nieces perform in the Rochester water ski shows.  He was an avid reader and looked forward to the challenge of completing the daily newspaper crossword puzzle.  In his later years, he found joy in researching and collecting toy tractors, often finding favorites that reminded him of his childhood.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Sheldon Ree, Marlys (Steve) Duxbury, Jerilyn Ree, Karen Leider (Carter Nickolay); grandchildren, Aaron (Caitlyn), Kayla, and Kendra Duxbury; great-grandchild, Estelle Duxbury; sisters, Audrey Bordson, Eunice Guttromson; Godchildren, Rebecca Baker, Tom Swanson, Kathy Dubois, Matt Thoreson, Emily Rickter; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 2 p.m. with an hour of visitation Prior at Wanamingo Lutheran Church.
