Sigrid Anita Jorgenson

Sigrid Anita Jorgenson, age 77, of Zumbrota, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter in rural Kenyon, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sigrid Anita Makie was born on December 18, 1938 to Otto and June Makie in Kellogg, Minnesota. She grew up and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1956. She married Dale Nelson Jorgenson on November 16, 1957 in Zumbrota, and they had two children. She was a homemaker most of her life and worked as a bookkeeper for Cargill in Trent, South Dakota. Sigrid and Dale lived in several states during their 41 years together, including Minnesota, Washington, Utah, Alabama, Colorado, South Dakota, and Arizona. They retired to Mesa, Arizona where they spent their days dancing with friends. Sigrid was an outgoing person who enjoyed life. She loved to cook, travel, sew, paint, dance, fish, and play the button box accordion.
Sigrid is survived by her dear friend, Eugene VanHouten of Springfield, Vermont; her daughter, Kristin (Thomas) Ferguson of Zumbrota; one son, Dale Jorgenson, Jr. of Narita, Japan; three grandchildren, Kari (Adam) Ellingsberg of rural Kenyon, Gary Harbo II of New Zealand, and Nick Jorgenson of Tempe, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Hugh Ellingsberg of rural Kenyon; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sigrid was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Jorgenson; and her parents, Otto and June Makie.
There will be a celebration of life memorial at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, on Saturday January 30th at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and lunch will follow.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family requests donations to Seasons Hospice of Rochester.
