Shirley Sullivan, 71, died Thursday, April 8th at her home in Red Wing. She was born December 20, 1949 to Bill and Marcella Rosener. She grew up in Goodhue with her five brothers and sisters (Katie, Marv, Murlyn, Kay, and Eileen) and graduated in 1967 from Goodhue High School. Then, on the coldest day of 1972, (January 15) she married the love of her life, Eugene Sullivan. They had a daughter, Barbara, on October 27, 1986.
Other than a few odd jobs here and there, Shirley spent most of her working experience as the shipping clerk for Rivera Cabinets and retired from there on April 1, 2007. In her free time she liked to garden, watch birds, go antiquing, and read almost any fiction book she could get her hands on. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. In fact, some of her favorite times were going to breakfast with her friend Linda Meachum.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Barbara, brother Murlyn, and sister Eileen. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Marv, and her sisters Katie and Kay.
A Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, April 15th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerome and Billy Sullivan, Holly Erickson, Mike Rosener, Randy and Kelly Bach. The visitation will be Wednesday, April 14th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
