Shirley Diane (Brant) Peterson, age 62, of Roscoe Township, died peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Pastor Kathleen Lowery of Stordahl Lutheran Church officiating. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Shirley Diane Brant was born on February 18, 1955 in Viroqua, WI to Palmer and Phyllis (Munson) Brant. Her mother Phyllis passed away in 1956. As a young child her family moved to the Wanamingo area. Her father Palmer married Karen Floan in 1958. Shirley attended school in Wanamingo and was active in the choir, was the lead in several high school plays, a cheerleader and the majorette with the marching band. Shirley graduated in 1973.
Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Greg Peterson on June 8, 1974. They made their home in Roscoe Township and raised their two sons there. Tyler was born in 1977 and Adam in 1979. Greg passed away suddenly on May 5, 2008.
Shirley later connected to her dear friend, Jeff Larson and they became a couple. Shirley enjoyed being in the country and going camping down at the ponds. She loved to spend time visiting with family, especially at Christmas, reading, fishing, golfing, playing softball, going to concerts to hear her beloved rock and roll and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them fishing.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Tyler Peterson and Adam (Kalinda) Peterson; grandchildren, Emma Peterson, Mitchell Peterson and Indira Peterson; boyfriend, Jeff Larson; mother, Karen Brant; sisters, Patricia (Bruce) Prigge, Kimberly (Gene) Wishum and Michelle (Donald) Loken; mother-in-law, Betty Peterson; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Greg) Langley and Mary (Bill) Avery; brothers-in-law, Gary (Harriet) Peterson and Stuart Peterson and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Greg; mother, Phyllis Brant; father, Palmer Brant on July 3, 2017 and father-in-law, Donald Peterson.
