Shirley L. Burdick McWaters

Shirley L. Burdick McWaters, age 62, of Zumbrota passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, May 27, 2016 at her home. A private graveside service was held at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Mazeppa with Pastor Jerome McWaters officiating.
Shirley Loretta Andrist was born on July 4, 1953 in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, MN to Otto and Loretta (Reinardy) Andrist. She grew up in rural Pine Island and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1971. On July 7, 1973 she married Richard C. Burdick at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island. Together they farmed in Pine Island Township until Richard died on November 8, 1998. Shirley continued to live on the farm and milked the cows until 1999. Shirley started working as a waitress at the Rainbow Café in Pine Island and later became the head cook at the Pine Haven Care Center. On November 9, 2007 Shirley married Denny McWaters and they made their home on Shirley's farm.
Shirley loved to tend her yard, garden, can, paint, spend time outdoors and spend time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Denny; daughters, Audra (Keith) Tubin of Brookfield, WI and Bobby Jo Moyer of Mazeppa; stepsons, Jacob (Crystal) McWaters of Northfield and Cole McWaters of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Ally, Jakob, Konnor, Kamryn, Dylan and Jacob Jr.; brothers, Kenneth Andrist, Otto (Mavis Lerol) Andrist Jr, and Arland (Mary) Andrist, all of Pine Island, Joseph (Marietta) Andrist of Rochester, David (Mary) Andrist of Pine Island, Darold (Kim) Andrist of Prescott, AZ, Virgil (Carol) Andrist of Mantorville, Donald (Meryl) Andrist of San Jose, CA and Ernie (Sharon) Andrist of Rochester; sisters, Viola May of Tucson, AZ, Rose Andrist of Pine Island and Kathy (Robert) Krause of Pine Island.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Loretta; husband, Richard and brother, Ronald Andrist.
