Shirley I. Krueger age 85 of Lake City passed away July 5, 2009 at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System.

Shirley was born December 2, 1923 in Plainview, MN to Harmon & Lula (Haessig) Herron. She married Delbourne Krueger December 31, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, IA. After they where married they lived in Milwaukee, WI for a short time until moving to Lake City. She worked in a Defense Factory in Milwaukee during WW II. In Lake City she worked as a waitress and cook at many different restaurants and a cook at the Lake City Nursing Home. Del passed away October 29, 2005. Shirley was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. John's Ladies Aid, VFW Post 8729 Ladies Auxiliary, Lake City Hospital Auxiliary and she volunteered for many different community service groups. Her hobbies and talents, she played the organ, was a great seamstress talented at creating her own patterns and alterations, she loved gardening, cooking, baking, needle point, crocheting, knitting and BINGO.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Yvonne (Lynn) Partington of Brownsville, MN, Kimberly Rae Krueger-Messer of Lake City; one son, Terrance LeRoy (Josephine Tan) of Fountain Inn, S.C.; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Glen Herron, Milton Herron and a sister Martha (Muffy) Sogla.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Friends may call one hour before the services at the church. Honorary Pallbearers are David Krueger, Amy Krueger, Debbie Eastland, Francis Tan, Michael Partington, Dawn Kinderman, Michael Malles, Thomas Malles.
