Shirley Mae Hutchson

Shirley Mae Hutchson, 79, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Fairview Seminary Home, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on October 27, 1928, in Burr Oak, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Clara (Thiessen) Turnbell. She attended school in Pierce County, Wisconsin and on April 14, 1948, she was married to Donald Hutchson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They lived in the Red Wing area. For a short time she worked at Riedell Shoes and the Red Wing Pottery. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking. For many years she babysat for families and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, at the Red Wing Health Center; six children, James (Yvonne) Hutchson of Ohio, Wanda (Robert) Harrie of Virginia, Timothy (Katherine) Hutchson of Red Wing, Peggy Barker of Virginia, Sharon (Jim Murphy) Hutchson of Red Wing and Judith (Randy) Mickelson of Red Wing; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Olson of Hager City, Betty "Sally" Hauschildt of Red Wing and Audrey (Don) Brand of Siren, Wisconsin and one brother, Duane (Nita) Turnbell of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Jeffrey Hutchson in 2002; two brothers and one sister.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Revs. Kristen Schlauderaff and Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kyle and Megan Hutchson, Daniel Johnson, Robert Harrie III, Brenda Walsh, Kristina Ruehl, Katie Hegseth and Cheryl Schwartz. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
