Shirley Mae Halverson, 86, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at her home. She was born on September 24, 1931, in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin to Ernest and Vera (Holmberg) Hase. She graduated from Maiden Rock High School in 1949. On September 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jim Halverson at Salem Lutheran Church of rural Maiden Rock. They farmed a few years until moving to Red Wing in the fall of 1955. She worked at the Red Wing Shoe Company for 22 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of United Lutheran Church since 1957. She enjoyed cooking, doing craft projects, fishing, playing cards and being with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband Jim; two sons, Robert (Jean) Halverson of Red Wing and Timm (Beverly) Halverson of Welch; three grandchildren, Jeff (Tracy) Halverson, Dustin Halverson and Andrew Halverson; two great granddaughters, Natalie and Hailey Halverson; six siblings, Ernest (Georgia) Hase, Eugene (Helen) Hase, Howard (Delores) Hase, Charlotte (Denny) Borst, Joe Hase and Susie (Les) Hase; one brother-in-law, Reid Miller and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Randy and Lonn Halverson, mother and father-in-law, Clifford and Vivian Halverson; six siblings, Robert, Ronald, Tom, Joanne and Neil Hase and Mary Miller and two sister-in-laws, Dixie Hase and Shirley Hase.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
