Shirley Mae Button

Shirley Mae Button cast off her mortal bonds and stepped into eternity on Saturday August 18, 2012. She was born May 24, 1932 to Godfred and Marilyn (Klodt) Christensen, in Rochester, Minnesota. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1950. Shirley worked as an administrative assistant at Model Laundry, Mayo Clinic, and JC Penney. She also worked in the catalog department at Penney's.
Shirley married James J. Button on April 9, 1953 and together, they raised their five children in SE Rochester. She truly enjoyed being a Mother, Grandmother and homemaker. She also enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years; a half-brother Ervin H. House Jr (Dorothy) of Lewiston, Minnesota; five children, Shelley (Steven) Dostal of Casa Grande, Arizona, James A. (Brenda) Button of Dover, Minnesota, Bradley (Jennifer) Button of Rochester, Gregory (Barbara) Button of Rochester, and Lisa Button (Frank Lebeck) of Lewiston, Minnesota. "Gramma Shirley" will be sincerely missed by her grandchildren, Mandy, Katie, Jared, Leah, Marissa, Brandon, Anna, Lainey, Miranda, Nicole, Zach, and Tyler; and by her eleven great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; beloved stepfather Mr. Ervin H. House Sr., and stepmother Mrs. Geneva (Henke) Christensen.
Friends and family are welcomed to a remembrance gathering in Shirley's honor on Wednesday August 22nd at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday August 21st at the funeral home.
