Shirley Elizabeth Born, 74, of Red Wing, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at her home. She was born on September 24, 1942, in Red Wing to Edward and Mildred (Blastervold) Anderson. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School and on October 15, 1960, she married Loren Born. For over 25 years she worked for the Credit Bureau of Red Wing and then at Edward Jones until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and was part of a bowling league. She helped as a volunteer for many things and enjoyed doing crafts, including knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, painting and sewing, but her favorite was quilting. She made many wonderful friends going to quilting retreats. She enjoyed spending time with her family, which was very important to her and she would crack a few jokes to make everyone laugh.
Survivors include her husband, Loren; one daughter, Connie (Rich Gross) Bruemmer of Aberdeen, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Natalie Bruemmer of Mankato, Nicole (fiancé, Jordan Aesoph) Bruemmer of Faulkton, South Dakota and Lynnel Bruemmer of Deadwood, South Dakota; her aunt and uncle, Fritz and Marilyn Sticha of Faribault; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marvin and Virginia Born of Red Wing; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and many special friends. Also surviving her is her dog, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step father, Clarence Hennen.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
