Sharon Kay (Marquardt) Roble

Sharon Kay Roble, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021, at her home in Mazeppa. She was born on December 11, 1943, in Fairmont, Minnesota to Francis “Bud” and Dorothy (Sheely) Marquardt. Sharon was the second child of five. She grew up, as a lover of animals, any and all varieties, shapes, and sizes. One time Sharon brought home a baby lamb. She liked drawing animals, especially horses and dogs. During high school she played the saxophone and was in the marching band. She married Daryl Hystead in 1964, together they had three children, Mark, Michelle, and Michael. They later divorced. On April 4, 1992, she was united in marriage to Tom Roble. Tom had four children, so they formed a blended family, now having seven kids between them. Tom and Sharon made their home in Mazeppa. Sharon was employed at IBM for 20 years. She was an excellent “wood craftsman.” Over the years she perfected her technique of woodcarving. Having just the right tools, Sharon spent hours, sometimes days, creating beautiful pieces of art. She also constructed a few pieces of furniture, whimsical houses, walking sticks, and a mantle to go over the fireplace. Many of her pieces she donated to charitable benefits and family. Her legacy will live on through her beautiful artistic talents. She was also talented in the kitchen, making the best brownies, bean dip, roast beef dip, and was the best hostess at holiday celebrations. She held family and friends in the highest regard, she will be forever missed.

Left to cherish her memory include, her husband Tom Roble; children, Mark (Jackie) Hystead, Michelle (Keith) Jones, Michael Hystead; bonus children, Ann (Mike) Hinsch, Lori (Marcus) Lunde, Michael (Patty) Roble, Richard (Kelly) Roble; grandchildren, Samantha (Alex), Erik, Aleah, Brandon (Katie), Ethen (Jordan), Riley, Cassandra, Kelsie, Jessica, and Rachael; and five great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers; Sandra Heatherly, DeeAnn Houck, Wayne Marquardt and Kevin (Marquardt) Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Dorothy and brother-in-law, Larry Heatherly.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
