Sharon Arms

Sharon Kaye Arms, 61, of Red Wing, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on November 12, 1945, in St. Paul and adopted by Lloyd and Flossie (Nielson) Gerdes of Red Wing. She attended Burnside School, Red Wing Central High School and Zumbrota High School. She also attended Red Wing Technical College. In 1963 she married Paul Wacker and they later divorced. She married Erie Allan VanMeveren and they later divorced. On May 22, 1975, she married Lewis Arms in Isanti, Minn. She worked as a bartender and waitress in Granite Falls, CDCC (Chemical Dependency Communication Consultants) in Lake City, United Telephone, Lake City, and Lake City Hospital and was a district agent for Prudential Insurance in Lake City. She then was employed by IBM and for 10 years worked as a financial worker for Wabasha County and also was self employed with Medicaid Advisors. She enjoyed going to the casino, sewing, fishing, and agate hunting.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis; four daughters, Brenda Wohlers of Altura, Minn., Cristy Wacker of Rochester, Barbara Wacker and Bonnie Wacker both of Lake City; one son, Timothy VanMeveren of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Kailey Wacker and Alex and McKenzie Wohlers; one sister, Sheila Mogard of Hutchinson; two half brothers, Douglas (Kathy) Latew of Germantown, Ohio and Melvin (Rose Marie) Malchow of New Berlin, Wis. and one aunt, Lu Chamberlain of Red Wing. She was preceded is death by her parents; one grandson and one half brother, Duane Gerdes.


Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Lynne Rigg officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
