Shane Wade Carsten, 39, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly from a medical condition, at his home on Sunday, February 19, 2023. He was born May 28, 1983, in Lake City, to Robert and Penny (Carsten) Linder and graduated from Lake City High School, class of 2001. He went on to attend the Art Institute of MN and received his bachelor’s degree in graphic design. His artistic and creative talents were evident at a young age and he was able to carry on his talents into his profession, having worked as a graphic design artist at various places, including Bic Graphic locally. On May 17, 2014, he married the love of his life, Shaleea Nutter-Emerson. To Shaleea, he was an incredible husband, loving and supportive and loved her unconditionally; their love was like a romance novel. Together they had 2 sons, Elijah and Xander and Shane loved being their dad, being with them and playing video games with them. Shane was an intelligent, philosophical and hilarious guy all wrapped into one. He liked cooking and creating new recipes, camping with his family, going hunting with his dad and making humorous TikTok videos “. . .because the house spouse never stops”. He was an enjoyable friend, son, uncle, brother, dad and husband who gave the best hugs and will be incredibly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Shaleea; 2 sons, Elijah and Xander; parents, Robert & Penny Linder; brothers, Jakob Linder and Michael Johnson; sisters, Denae (Bryan) Ormsby, Brigette Johnson and Jamie Heineman; mother-in-law, Shannon Nutter; father-in-law, Christopher (Sandy) Emerson; brother-in-law, Ben (Samantha) Nutter; nieces & nephews, Brynlee, Bryan, Tesia, Adrian, Barrett and Kyson and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his birth father, Roger Heineman; sister, Kaili Linder; grandparents, Ervin & Florabelle Carsten, Eugene & Mary Linder, Luverne Heineman and Ruth Savage; uncles, Wayne, Gary & Kim Carsten & Richard Heineman and an aunt, Sandy Carsten.
A gathering of family and friends for Shane will be held in June at Hok-Si-La Park in Lake City. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
