Sean Michael McElmury, of Lake City, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 7, with his family at his side. Sean was born on January 3, 1974, in Lake City to John and Suzanne (Kane) McElmury. He graduated as valedictorian from Lincoln High School in 1992, where he met the love of his life, Natalie (Reynolds) McElmury. Sean attended St. John's University and graduated in 1996. Sean and Natalie were married on August 24, 1996 at St. Mary of the Lake and their first child, Chloe, was born in December of that year. A few years later their son Michael would be born.
Sean spent 20 years of his life working for the family business, JMC Inc. He loved his job and was good at it-his family remembers late nights of Dad working at the kitchen table and early mornings leaving for business trips. When his kids were little, Sean and Natalie would take them all over the Midwest in their purple Nissan Maxima for business trips. Sean's work at JMC Inc. allowed for so many wonderful things for Sean and Natalie to share with each other and others. They were fond of taking trips, especially to Hawaii, and helping Chloe, Michael, and anyone else however they could.
Sean had a generous heart and was a friend to many. You could usually find him downtown talking to many and making new friends constantly. He was known for being generous with his time and any resources. He was wildly charismatic with a fierce and compassionate soul. Sean was immensely proud of his children for their accomplishments and how they shared their talents with others.
Sean is survived by his soulmate and love, Natalie McElmury, his children, Chloe (23) and Michael (21), his parents John and Suzanne (Kane) McElmury, sister Lisa (Doug) Wallerich, brother Bill, sister Sara (Paul) Freid, sister Nardy (Josh) Balza, parents-in-law Clifford and Annette (Madsan) Reynolds, brother-in-law Nate (Ann) Reynolds, godchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sean was preceded in death by his sister, Kris.
A celebration of life will be planned for the future when we may all gather together to fully celebrate Sean's short but incredible time on this Earth. Online condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
