Scott C. Monsrud age 48 of Mazeppa died on Tuesday, October 06, 2009 at the Rochester Methodist Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Pastor David Neal officiating. Burial will be in the Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Scott Clifford Monsrud was born on June 7, 1961 in Rochester, MN to Kenneth and Marilyn (nee Hasley) Monsrud. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1979, where he was active in hockey. He attended Bemidji State University, where he played hockey and was the assistant coach for several years. Scott returned to Rochester and started working for Road Constructors Inc. Scott was an assistant hockey coach at John Marshall High School for many years. On July 31, 1993 he married Zola Goranson in Mazeppa. They made their home in Mazeppa. In 2000 he started working for Charter Communications and also worked part time at the Mazeppa Municipal. Scott was currently serving on the Mazeppa City Council, Fire Chief for the Mazeppa Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders and served on the Zumbrota Area Ambulance Board. Scott enjoyed hockey, golfing, pheasant and goose hunting, spending time with his family and fishing with his children at the cabin. Scott is survived by his wife Zola, daughter, Mackenzie and son, Christian, both at home, his parents, Kenneth and Marilyn Monsrud of Rochester, brothers, Jeffrey (Beth Ann) Monsrud of Maple Grove and Eric (Lisa) Monsrud of Bemidji and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by a son, Tyler Martin Monsrud and his grandparents. Bearers are members of the Mazeppa Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders. Memorials are preferred to the Mazeppa Volunteer Fire Department or donor's choice.
