Sandra "Sandi" L. Nord

Sandra L. Nord, age 63, of Zumbrota, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
Sandra Lee Thompson was born on September 7, 1949 in Red Wing, MN to Stanley "Tat" and Evelyn "Evie" (nee Husbyn) Thompson. Sandi grew up in Zumbrota, graduated from Zumbrota High School and Cosmetology School in St. Paul. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Zumbrota. Sandi also worked at Casey's in Zumbrota and Kid Duds in Cannon Falls. On August 13, 1978 she married Mike Nord at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota. Sandi spent her retirement years working as a seamstress and providing daycare for friends and family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, riding horse and motorcycle. Sandi also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Minneola Lutheran Church and Mazeppa Quilters.
Sandi is survived by her husband Mike of Zumbrota; children, Troy (Kayla) Ness, Tara (Michael) Plank, Michael Nord and Adam Nord all of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Emma, Abby, and Ryan Plank, Tate, Wyatt, and Teagan Ness, Evelyt Nord, and one on the way; brother, Tom ( Cindy) Thompson; sister, Terry (Bob) Erredge; brother-in-law, Brad (Cheryl) Nord; sisters-in-law; Teresa (Dan) Grantham and Tami (Steve) Sawyer; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steven Thompson and brother-in-law, Jon Nord.
