Sandra Kisch

October 12, 1943 — August 21, 2007

Sandra Marie Kisch, 63, Red Wing, died Tuesday at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was born October 12, 1943 in Minneapolis, the daughter of LeRoy and Sylvia (Bebeau) Kisch. She attended public schools. She married Joseph Schmelzer, Jr. and they later divorced. She worked at the Red Wing Health Center for over 25 years and more recently worked as a program assistant for the Advantage Center in Maple Hills where she resided. She was involved in the Foster Grandparent Program where she assisted with the Homework Center and all of the children's activities. She did a lot of volunteer work for Maple Hills. She enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed crafts and in her later years she did sewing, quilting and gardening.

Survivors include seven children, Michael Schmelzer of Red Wing, Mary (Mark) Builder of San Rosa, Calif, Barbara (Tim) Bohmbach of Red Wing, Timothy Schmelzer of Lake City, Kathy (Bruce) Larson of Red Wing; Judy (Michael Baker) Schmelzer of Lake City, and Jody (Darren) Jaenke of Welch; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her mother, Sylvia Kisch of Maple Grove; one sister, Elaine (Al) Kramer of Mound and one brother, Peter Kisch of Brooklyn Park. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Kenny.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p. m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Red Wing School Foundation.
