Sandra Kay (Brown) Bartholomew

Sandra Kay Bartholomew, age 76 of Pine Island, Minn., passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on June 7, 2021.

Sandy was born September 21, 1944, to Elmer Gordon and Marveleen Marcella (Krier) Brown in Red Wing, Minn.  She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1962 where she was active in the theatre program. On March 16, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie James Bartholomew.  They remained in Pine Island where they raised their two sons, Daniel and Matthew.

Sandy was a devoted housewife and helped care for many neighborhood children through the years.  She was also employed by the Zumbrota Livestock and Stamps by Judith.

Sandy was an active member of the Pine Island United Methodist Church where she taught 3rd grade Sunday School, was bookkeeper for the Memorial Fund, made many, many cakes and was always willing to help in anyway possible.  Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, bird watching/feeding, reading, Sudoku, and hosting family gatherings.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Jimmie; Sons, Dan (Debbie) and Matt; honorary adopted daughter, Cindy Berg; Sisters, Connie (David) Berry, Kathy (Thomas) Wytaske, and Kristine (Lon) Knutson; and will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Island United Methodist Church, 200 N. Main St., Pine Island, MN 55963, with Visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Pine Island United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
