Samuel Douglas Parker, 67, of Red Wing, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at his home. He was born on January 15, 1951, in Red Wing, Minnesota to Thomas and Lucille (Behrens) Parker. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1969. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he received his Journeyman's license through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #343. He began working for the family business, Tom Parker Electric, until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #343 and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed fishing, doing projects around his home and being with his grandchildren.
Samuel is survived by his three daughters, Stephanie (Robert) Larson, Whitney Parker and Jeannie Parker; three grandchildren, Taylor, Jordyn and Parker Larson; his former wife, Suzanne (Pfluger) Parker; one step-daughter, Katie Johnston; three siblings, Kathleen Dwyer, Tom O. (Debi) Parker and George (Kay) Parker; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and John.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Church of St. Joseph. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
