Sally Roach, 64, of Hastings, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her home. She was born on Valentines day in 1953 to Norman and Shirley Lively in Billings, Montana. Her father was in the army and later moved frequently as part of his job so she lived in many parts of the country as a child. Eventually, she settled in Minneapolis, Minn. where she went to work for the city in the public works water department. While living in the city she developed a love for art and poetry. She became the mother of three and began her new job of raising her children. They became her pride and joy. She also loved animals and was dedicated to protecting not only pets and wildlife, but also their habitat and the environment. Once her children had grown she was happiest at home and she made a point to keep up with many friends over the Internet.
She is survived by two children, Amelia (Jason) Baker of Minnesota and Kate (Lars) Erickson of Colorado; sisters, Peggy (Gary) Moffit of Texas, Virginia (Fred) Shea of Washington, Genevieve Morris of Florida; brother, JayCee (Toni) Lively of Arizona; many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, William "Bill" Roach and her parents.
An informal gathering in celebration of her life will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday, February 12 at Mancini's Char House in St. Paul. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
