Sally Ann (Upton) Lunsford, 83, of Red Wing, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 21, 1938, to James and Nelda (Cooper) Upton in Valparaiso, Indiana and graduated from high school there. She married and had five children, living in several areas of the country and world during her husband’s military stationing. Later in life, Sally decided to continue her education, and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bethel College in St. Paul. While in St. Paul, she worked for the Corps of Engineers, and after her retirement, she became a missionary, primarily at an orphanage in Romania. Sally was a strong Christian woman and was a member of Resurrection Methodist Church in Hastings. She greatly enjoyed traveling and painting.
She is survived by her children, Kelly and Kathy Lunsford, Jimmie Lunsford, Lorri and Mike Johnston, Lise and Elias Sievers-Omoding and Roger Lunsford; grandchildren, Randy, Casey, Tony, J.D., Amber, Chris, Timothy, Elizabeth, Kyle, Robert, Jim, Steven, Nick, Josh, Roger (Renee), Jessica, Ryan, Jennifer (LaPrice), Cathy, Lakesha, Latesha, Marcus, Arianna, Shaelynn, Darius, Zachary, Sarah and Francis and many great and great-great-grandchildren and 3 siblings, Dean and Lois Upton, Janet Wiley and Dona Upton English. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nelda and siblings, Harry and Lila.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at Resurrection Methodist Church in Hastings with a visitation one hour prior. Memorials are preferred to His Grace Community Services—Ugandan Orphanage and Community Services https://hisgracecommunityservices.org/grace/
