Sallee Larson (nee Anderson), age 72, of Red Wing, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 28, 2011, after a year-long battle with cancer. Sallee graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1957. She went on to graduate from St. Olaf College in 1961 with a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She taught at Westbrook School. Sallee was married in 1963 and moved to Prairie Island where she raised three wonderful daughters. In addition to being the "chief cook and bottle washer", she worked weekends at Wiederholt's Supper Club, was the senior nutrition manager for the Prairie Island Community, was The Tupperware Lady for many years and retired in 2010 from Treasure Island. She enjoyed volunteering through 4-H, Cross of Christ Church, as a Republican Eagle Cookbook Judge and in many other ways. She loved her travel opportunities through Tupperware and Extension group. Her interests were varied and included baking, quilting, crafts, reading, friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Sara Larson of Red Wing, Greta (Doug Bartels) Larson of Ellsworth and Anna (Doug) Amy of Hastings and their father, George Larson of Red Wing. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Amy and Reese and Sidney Bartels. She is also survived by her brothers Lowell (Sharon) Anderson of Cannon Falls, Jim Anderson of White Rock; a sister Ruthie (Randy) Fox of Cambridge and sister-in-law Bernice (Dick) Wettersten of Wahkon, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by sisters Betty Jane Johnson and Diane Llenaressas and a brother, Reid Anderson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend James Vadis officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m.Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial to Cross of Christ Church are preferred.
