Ruthe Mae Exner

Ruthe Mae Exner, 85, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at her home at Potter Ridge. She was born on September 19, 1930 in Pine Island to James and Lula (Cooke) Owen. She graduated from Pine Island High School and on October 15, 1950 married Harry Exner, Jr. They were married at the Presbyterian Church in Oronoco. They lived in Rochester for several years. In 1960 they moved to Red Wing, where together they purchased Johnson Tire Service. They owned and operated it for 52 years. For several years Ruthe owned a catering business. In later years she was a food demonstrator at local grocery stores. She was a 50 year member of First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing. Harry died March 1, 2013. Following Harry's death she made it her mission to make hundreds of hospice blankets to be given to hospice patients. She enjoyed being with family and attending their sporting events over the years.
Survivors include her five children, Cathy (Alan) Novek of Frontenac, Jean (Michael) Mobraten of Hager City, Cindy (Wayne) Betcher of Welch, Harry "Bob" (Renae) Exner of Red Wing and Scott Exner of Elk Mound, Wisconsin; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry; one daughter, Marcia Jane Exner; one grandson, Harry Raymond Exner; six brothers, Cliff, Carl, Harland, Lyell, Tom and Robert Owen and one sister, Mary Lou Shanks.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jennifer Miles-Allen officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, December 11 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church, Mayo Clinic Red Wing Hospice or donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
