Ruth Flora Zahara

Ruth Flora Zahara, 94, of Red Wing died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born on October 28, 1919 in Vernon County, WI to Amon and Martha (Wolfe) Dolan. She grew up and attended school there. She married Thelmer Stenerson on April 15, 1935. Together, they farmed for over 40 years. Thelmer died on July 25, 1985. Later on, she married William Zahara in Las Vegas. The couple lived happily together until Bill's death on July 13, 2011. In addition to being a wife and mother, Ruth worked in a rest home and at the Rivera Kitchen for over 20 years. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Howard (Joyce) and Tim (Lois) Stenerson, both of Red Wing; grandsons, Howard P., Timothy, and Jeffrey Stenerson, all of Red Wing; granddaughter, Kimberly (Tracey) VonBargen of Alexandria, MN; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thelmer Stenerson and Bill Zahara; parents; and all seven of her siblings.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding presiding.
