Ruth A. Witt, 84, of Red Wing, formerly of Rochester, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at her home. She was born June 14, 1931 in Cummingsville, Minnesota and grew up and attended schools in the Rochester area. She married Richard Campion in 1951 and they later divorced. In September of 1971 she married Robert Witt in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was co-owner of Barb and Ruth's Café in Dodge Center and also Ruth's Country Café in Claremont. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Homemakers Club and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a strong supporter of veterans organizations, in particular Tee It Up for the Troops. Her favorite pastime was entertaining family and friends, as she loved to cook. Her family will miss her blue ribbon pickles and soups which she had won many awards for at the local county fairs. She also enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching. Ruth was a perfectionist in life and her grandson Marcus would lovingly say, "there is the right way, the wrong way and Grandma's way". She was very close to all of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela (Chris) Christopherson of Wabasha and Leanne (Steven) Andreasen of Fountain Hills, AZ; two step-sons, Thomas (Julie) Witt of Iowa and Kevin Witt of Minnesota; one step-daughter, Sandra (Alan) Nordquist of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters; 5 brothers and her husband, Robert.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Rev. Greg Strunk officiating.
