Ruth M. Urevig age 79 of Zumbrota passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home in Zumbrota. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 Pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. A private family graveside will be held in the Zumbrota Cemetery.
Ruth Mary Mielke was born on September 17, 1932 in Glencoe, MN to Elvin and Edna (nee Block) Mielke. On January 5, 1951 she married Edroy O. Urevig at Urland Lutheran Church in rural Cannon Falls. They farmed for many years in the Sogn Valley area before moving to Zumbrota. They worked together milking cows and farming until they retired. Ruth loved to do her gardening and flowers were her specialty. For many years Ruth made lefse around Christmas time and many people would stop by to enjoy. For a winter pastime she enjoyed making quilts and doing embroidery.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Edroy O. Urevig; daughter, Jane (Tyron) Friese of Zumbrota; sons, Russell (Rita) Urevig of Port Wing, WI; Wesley (Robin) Urevig of Pine Island; grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Nicole (Josh Widdes), and Jill Urevig; Meggan (Terran) Neve; great-grandchildren, Hanna and Jacob; sister, Kathryn Mielke Hayden Donikowski and brother, Michael Mielke.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim Mielke; sister; Alice Kerner.
