Ruth Marie Stogdill

Ruth Marie Stogdill, 92, of Red Wing, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Fairview Seminary Home. She was born January 31, 1916 in Red Wing to Frank and Mary (Bolland) Wood, and grew up in the Red Wing area. She married Harold Stogdill on November 4, 1935 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They farmed in the Hager City and Bay City area for many years and she sold eggs from their farm. Harold died July 15, 2003. She was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed drawing and painting, gardening, and attending church activities.

She is survived by her sons, Donald (Pat) Stogdill of Bay City, Burton (Tricia) Stogdill of Bay City; brother, Carl (Edna) Wood of Bay City; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ken) Sumner of Osseo, Wisc., Michelle (Kelly) Hurlbut of Red Wing, Timothy (Kim) Stogdill of State College, Penn., Brian Stogdill of Ellsworth and Bruce Stogdill of Norfolk, Virg.; great-grandchildren, Colin Sumner, Hailey Hurlbut, Lily and Brandon Stogdill.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Bernard and Harlan Stogdill; siblings, Walter, Vincent, and Glen Wood, Blanche Anderson and June Walsh.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Laurel Presbyterian Church with Reverend Amy Flack officiating. Burial will be at Hartland Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
