Ruth M. Rude age 82 of Zumbrota died on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Wayne Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 4, 2008 from 4:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ruth Marie Fogelson was born on May 28, 1925 to George A. and Marie A. (nee Cordes) Fogelson. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1942. Ruth worked as a telephone operator for the Zumbrota Telephone Company. On October 10, 1945 she married Orville E. Rude at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed on the Rude family farm. They sold the farm to their son in the mid-1980's, but continued to live on the farm. Ruth worked as a cook at the Zumbrota Nursing Home for about ten years. In October of 2004 Ruth moved to the Zumbrota Nursing Home. Ruth was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, its ladies aid and had served as a 4H leader. She was a former member of the Goodhue County Extension Group. Ruth enjoyed cooking, watching sports on TV, playing cards and spending time with family.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Bonnie (Ralph) Jones of Fresno, CA, Carol (Allan) Schumacher of Zumbrota and Cindy (Jay) Jasperson of St. Charles; three sons, David (Karen) Rude of Zumbrota, Larry (Annette) Rude of Puyallup, WA and Marlin (Sara) Rude of Zumbrota; nineteen grandchildren, Darik (Minde), Andy, Kelsey, Zackary, Rachelle, Ian, Jacob, and Thomas (Nichole) Rude, Justine (Hans) Tangen, Michelle (Mike) Walters, Jennifer (Aaron) Gathright, Daniel (Adina) Jones, Timothy Jones, Wesley, Todd (Angie), and Scott Schumacher and Emily, Laura and Katie Jasperson; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Paige Rae, Kirt, Joshua and Deborah; one brother, Wayne Fogelson and one sister, Mary Ann (Duane) Pagel, both of Zumbrota.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Orville.
