Ruth I. Peterson age 94 of Pine Island died on Thursday morning, January 18, 2007 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Pine Island with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 2:00 ? 5:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth Irene Schletty was born on October 30, 1912 in Gladstone, MN to Samuel and Emma (nee Quall) Schletty. Her family moved to a Pine Island area farm when she was three years old. She married Halver M. Peterson on June 29, 1931. They farmed the Schletty family farm until Halver?s death in 1968. In 1970 she moved in to Pine Island. Ruth worked as a cook at the Pine Haven Care Center and Pine Island School. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and sewing. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carol(Henry) Schroeder of Elgin, ten grandchildren, Brenda (Jon) Hoffman of Millville, Barb (Mark) Mulholland of Dover, Bruce (Lori) Mickow of Eyota, Blaine (Denice) Mickow of Elgin, Don (Mary) Weis, Stuart (Lori) Weis, Dean (Delana) Weis, Carl (Rhonda) Weis, Neal (Denise) Weis and Brian (Shirley) Weis all of Pine Island, two step-granddaughters, Kathy (Dale) Grobe of Elgin and Carrie (Bruce) Bakken of Kenyon, twenty three great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren, son in law, Rolland Weis of Pine Island and sister in law, Alice Peterson of Pine Island. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Halvor, daughter, Donna Weis, five sisters and one great-great-grandson, Dylan Himle.
