Ruth W. Olson age 92 of Zumbrota died Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Pine Haven Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Erich Westphal officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2008 from 5:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ruth Wilhelmina Zimmerman was born on February 4, 1916 in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, MN to Edward and Gertrude (nee Remarkell) Zimmerman. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and two years of high school. On April 20, 1936 she married Orelles C. Olson at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. They farmed in Pine Island Township until retiring in 1972 and moved into Zumbrota. Orelles died on June 19, 1979. Ruth was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening, flowers and was an avid Twins fan.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Arlen (Sheila) Olson, Keith (Carol) Olson and Lowell Olson all of Zumbrota and one daughter Judy (William Fred) Perry of Zumbrota, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Bernadine Krueger and Elaine Reeve, both of Zumbrota. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Orelles and one brother Roy Zimmerman.
